AFFP was formed to help overcome the specific challenges faced by women pursing a career in medicine, although membership is open to any pre-medical students. The group allows a safe, non-competitive forum for pre-medical students to network and discuss issues such as medical school pre-requisites, education, and family challenges.
The mission statement of the Association of Future Female Physicians - University of Utah Pre-Medical Student Chapter - is to empower, educate, and support pre-medical students to advance within medicine.
We will achieve this by promoting service projects that benefit the community, while instilling leadership and awareness, fostering valuable alliances with current female medical students and practicing female physicians, encouraging and advocating for aspiring other undergraduate students, offering opportunities to gain insight about women's issues that help aid and commit them to improving women's health, and offering forums that provide the knowledge, insight, and perspective that will further aid women through their progression in the medical profession.
